Brierdene Lodge No. 5344
Resilience, Tradition and Lasting Brotherhood
Brierdene Lodge, No. 5344 is a Lodge rooted in the history of the North East, drawing its name from a local geographic feature, the Briar Dene Burn, and embodying the resilience of the surrounding community. Meeting at the Whitley Bay Masonic Hall, Brierdene Lodge is dedicated to the core Masonic principles of Integrity, Respect, Friendship, and Service.
Established in a time of great change, the Lodge has maintained a strong, continuous presence in the Northumberland Province, weathering historical challenges while keeping its focus firmly on the personal development and fraternal support of its members.

Our Character & Unique Tradition
Brierdene Lodge is defined by its deep sense of history and an active, encouraging fellowship that fosters dedication and commitment. We are a Lodge where new members are welcomed and guided by highly experienced Masons.

A Commitment to Longevity
Brierdene Lodge is characterised by members who demonstrate remarkable lifelong dedication. Recent celebrations have seen multiple brethren honoured for their 50 years of service in the Craft, with one exceptional member even receiving commendation for 70 years of service. This depth of experience provides a unique mentoring environment for those new to Freemasonry.
A Consistent Calendar
To foster regular attendance and strong bonds, we meet monthly for ten months of the year, holding our meetings on the third Friday of the month, ensuring a reliable schedule for work-life balance.
A History of Resilience
The Lodge holds a compelling history, including the narrative of its rebuilding after suffering a direct hit during the Second World War. Like the mythical phoenix, the Lodge rose from the ashes, a testament to the unwavering spirit and fraternity of Freemasonry. This legacy of overcoming adversity remains a source of pride and inspiration for all members.
Service and Impact in the Community
Freemasonry encourages members to translate the moral lessons learned in the Lodge into positive action. The spirit of Service and supporting the community is central to Brierdene Lodge’s purpose.

The Foundation of Brotherhood
Our charitable work is built upon the foundation of Friendship and mutual support cultivated within the Lodge. By strengthening the bonds of brotherhood, we enhance our collective ability to make a meaningful difference to society, living up to the core value of Integrity both inside and outside the Hall.
Supporting Local Needs
We actively participate in the charitable giving of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Northumberland, contributing significant funds to local charities, community organisations, and those in need across the North Tyneside area.
