About us

The Whitley Bay Masonic Hall, located on Norham Road, has been a central fixture in North Tyneside for over a century, providing an essential space for community engagement, celebration, and connection. The current Hall was built in the 1950s but traces its roots as a company back to 1912, the Hall's deep roots in the area are matched by its modern commitment to being a welcoming and adaptable venue for everyone in the community.

We are proud to serve as a genuine hub where traditional and contemporary life intertwine, hosting not only the numerous Masonic Lodges and Orders that call the Hall home, but also a diverse range of public events and activities.

The Heart of Community Activity

The Hall is designed to be a flexible and accessible space for all of Whitley Bay’s needs. We actively host and support local groups, classes, and initiatives that focus on health, well-being, and family life.

Health and Lifestyle

Our versatile main space is perfectly suited for a wide array of activities, from fitness classes and martial arts to specialised well-being sessions.

A Place for Service

We believe in giving back. Recently, the Hall opened its doors to local teenagers involved in the National Citizenship Service (NCS) program, run by Flying Futures, to facilitate their charitable activities. As noted by one of the Hall's representatives, the emphasis is on "Freemasonry helping charitable causes and also supporting young people develop valuable charitable oriented mind and skill sets."

Childcare and Early Years

The Hall is a regular venue for numerous popular child and toddler classes. Our regular timetable includes various Babyballet and Little Music Stars sessions for infants to pre-schoolers, making us a key location for early years development and parent groups.

A Venue for Arts and Culture

The Hall’s spacious and adaptable rooms regularly play host to cultural and artistic events, demonstrating its role in the region's cultural landscape.

We have been a long-standing venue for the renowned Whitley Bay Film Festival, offering a unique historic setting for screenings, such as a showing of the classic The Cabinet of Dr Caligari.

We host events ranging from antique fairs to special interest group meetings, ensuring that the Hall remains a dynamic and engaging space year-round.

Your Ideal Event Venue

Beyond its function as a Masonic meeting place, the Whitley Bay Masonic Hall is an exceptional and highly adaptable location for private functions and public hire.

Catering & Bar

Excellent in-house catering services are available, alongside a fully operational bar to cater for private parties, dinners, and special occasions.

Safety & Quality

The Hall is privately owned and operated by The Whitley Bay Masonic Hall Company Limited, ensuring it is fully insured and well maintained to the highest standards.

Main Function Room

A large, open space that can be configured for any purpose, from large fitness classes and exhibitions to formal dinners and parties.
