One of the longest-standing pillars of community and fellowship in North Tyneside, Belvedere Lodge No. 6558 has proudly met at Whitley Bay Masonic Hall for over 75 years. Like all Freemasonry, our foundation lies in the tradition of moral and ethical self-improvement, using symbolic tools and practices to guide our members toward leading productive lives that benefit their families, careers, and the communities of Whitley Bay and beyond.

At its core, Belvedere Lodge is a place where lifelong friendships are forged, and men of all ages, backgrounds, and professions meet on a level of genuine equality. We are a thriving Lodge where Integrity, Respect, Friendship, and Service are not just words, but the guiding principles of our every meeting and action.

Our Character & Unique Tradition

Founded shortly after the Second World War (around 1948) by members primarily hailing from Monkseaton Lodge, Belvedere Lodge was established with a strong emphasis on fellowship and ceremonial tradition.

The Light Blue Spirit

We pride ourselves on having an active and vibrant group of younger members, often referred to as the "Light Blues." New members are warmly welcomed and actively involved in the Lodge's work from day one, ensuring the Lodge continues to thrive for future generations. Our commitment to mentoring means new members find immediate guidance and friendship on their Masonic journey.

Celebrating History

We regularly celebrate the deep history of our Lodge and the Craft, honouring members who have dedicated decades of service to Freemasonry and our community.

A Sense of Occasion

We maintain a formal yet welcoming atmosphere, traditionally adhering to an Evening Suit dress code for our meetings, which adds a distinct sense of occasion and respect to our ceremonies and dining afterward.

As a lodge focused on the core value of Service, Belvedere Lodge is committed to making a tangible, positive difference in the local Whitley Bay area.
